AWESOME : Wall-mount 1/2-sphere Dome-Home Terrarium or Vivarium (retail links below)!

Brushed aluminum and thick, crystal clear aquarium acrylic. Sold as an "aquarium", but you're not paying for useless filters etc.; just use the included $1.50 siphon hose for something else and scoop debris with the wee economy minnow net... I think this is the coolest spider/scorpion habitat EVER. You access the inside via a glass lid on top; the unit mounts far enough away from the wall (vs. 100% flush) to allow a hand, tweezers, net, crickets, etc. in, though from most perspectives it provides the illusion of being much closer to the wall, with a tremendously aesthetic look compatible with most decor, light gently seeping out along the edges where frame meets wall. Though a bit small for a few of the freakishly largest, like Goliath bird eaters, it's positivey ideal for most small-through-adult tarantulas & scorpions when completed with your favorite substrate. Tarantulas, unless disturbed or seeking a female near the end of a male's life, often spend years in and around the entrance of their web or burrow -- their home, where they feel secure. Cheapest retail source (MSRP $349, normally $199 here) right now $169.96! (If you feel your species needs more room, see the model(s) further down) \/ \/ \/

Keep Humidity and temperatures in check: Though though the rigidity of temperature range requirements for some species gets a bit exaggerated in some circles (many thrive and breed in lower than documented optimum range while overheating kills), conversely, humidity cannot be over-stressed and is, perhaps, the number one killer when mishandled. This unobrusive, 2-in-one hygrometer and thermometer is not colored with possibly erroneous green-thru-red zones calibrated specifically for reptiles: Gauges fit for tarantula and scorpion care icon

Never overheat but keep arachnids out of the cold with thermostats compatible with any heat source (lights, under-tank pads etc.). Arachnohobby is located in sunny Florida where we seldom worry about prolonged cold, but if your tarantula or scorpion stays in an area prone to low temperatures in the winter, you may consider suppemental warmth. It's better to be too cool than too hot, but this is easily remedied with either of these products that supply power to the power jack on the end when the temperature drops below where you want it, so your choice of standard, 110-volt U.S. indoor power plug-in heat sources kick on! Please install thermostat low, against substrate, if using under-tank pads; you don't want to overheat the bottom before noticing the error after heat travels higher, subjecting arachnids to undue heat exposure, since the directions for both devices are for reptiles who bask in temperatures unfit for arachnids.
